It never hurts to try to do things properly. That being said, when someone attacks others for their errors, it always comes off to me as a weak attack.

It basically says that you can't argue the point the person made, so you won't to pick apart how they made the point.

I know that post was made about me to begin with. And as for your comments, Rock, maybe if people were intelligent enough to make posts that are barely above cave drawings, people like me wouldn't have to criticize.

Though I am not on the cave drawing level, I do make mistakes also sometimes. Shoot I prolly have some in this post. But, I always try to atleast get it where people can understand what I am saying...

Tha major grammar infractions annoy me the most when folks are trying to come off as extremely serious and trying to put down the intelligence of others, yet they themselves can't type out a proper complete sentence, conjugate verbs, or spell correctly.

Although I feel that using proper grammar is important all the time, when it comes to ordinary chit-chat or simple conversation on here it's not always worth pointing out (unless I just can't understand what someone has said).

I always like to use this illustration to demonstrate how important "little things" (such as punctuation) are:

Same words. Two completely different thoughts. One colon changed the entire meaning.

My personal thing is that if someone has problems with getting ganged up on or attacked when they make a post, then that person needs to look at their posting style a little more closely, especially if the posters that are doing the "ganging up" or "attacking" are veteran posters.

If you make a concerted effort to improve the way you post, then people won't be as likely to bust on you when you make a small mistake. They'll also take you more seriously when you try to make your points on certain subjects if you do take the time to watch your puncuation.

Just like I tell anyone who complains when they get busted on for punctuation or mis-wording something, there's a "Preview Reply" button option on this board for a reason--use it, it will cover your arse sometimes.

That's because most of the time "Countenese" (points, btw) is phoenetic. We can sound out literally what he's trying to say and decode it rather easily.

If someone's just tossing off words and mispelling/misusing things, but yet trying to act all high & mighty about something--that's when they'd better expect to get called on it, and that usually makes that person even more upset because they're wrong and they knew it...they just didn't take the time to use the "Preview Reply" button option to check themselves.

The thing that makes me mad is when people say "..." isn't proper grammar. It most certainly is, things like the dash (--) and ellipsis (...) indicate pauses between phrases or thoughts in the written word. We use them in everyday interactive speech, but may not translate it into written word when we're quoting someone. That doesn't mean a pause via dash or ellipsis wasn't used.
